Causes of Eating Disorders
Although doctors don’t know exactly what causes eating disorders, there may be many factors that can be attributed to causing eating disorders. The fact that the media is constantly bombarding people with the images of thin, beautiful people may cause people to feel very bad about their bodies. Their need to be thin and perfect like the people they see in the media may cause them to resort to an eating disorder. Another factor may be to cope with stress and to gain control of their lives. Many people may think that the only thing that they can control in their life is their eating. They want some form of control over their bodies and their lives.
Eating Disorders Treatment
The hardest part of recovering from an eating disorder is to admit that you have a problem. Once you admit that something is wrong in your life, you can take the first steps towards recovery. Many people in the early stages of eating
disorders do not need to be placed in the hospital or treatment program. Sometimes simply counseling, support groups or therapy is enough to help people overcome eating disorders. However, many people who are in the later stages of eating disorders may need to be put into a hospital or treatment center. These treatment centers will give the individual the kind of help and structure that they need. These treatment centers often consist of around the clock monitoring, therapy, counseling and support groups.
