Teen Drug Rehab
Teen drug rehab is a difficult thing for parents, as well as the teen abuser to deal with. When the parents and the child together make the decision to seek help, it is crucial that they find the right treatment program to fit the individual needs of the teen. If the correct program is chosen, and the teen has the desire to change, teen drug rehabilitation can be very successful.
Outpatient Rehabilitation Programs
Outpatient
rehabilitation programs are best suited for teens that have only a brief history of drug abuse. Outpatient care generally consists of regular therapy and counseling sessions. These sessions are designed to address any social or physiological problems that the teen may have as well dealing with the drug problem itself. Therapy is conducted individually or in groups. Some teens prefer the one-on-one help that individual therapy gives them, while others feel that group therapy gives them the peer support and acceptance that they need.
Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs
Inpatient
rehabilitation programs are best suited for teens that have had a long history of intense drug abuse. Inpatient treatment consists of the teen being monitored, counseled, and regulated 24 hours a day in a structured environment to ensure that they get the help that they need. Inpatient treatment can be very intense and is typically not suggested for mild teen drug abusers. This type of treatment is very effective for teens that take the program seriously and who really have the desire to change.
Counseling and Therapy
Drug counseling and therapy are best suited for teens who want a more personal solution to their drug problem. It will help them work out any socials or physiological problems that may be associated with the drug problem. Counseling and therapy will help them get to the root of the problem, not just treat the drug problem itself. Many teens will prefer the one-on-one situations of individual therapy, while other teens will prefer the peer support that they will find from group therapy. Either approach has proven effective based on the desire of the teen to truly change.

Drug addiction at any age is hard to deal with, but it is particularly difficult for a teen and their parents to deal with. The key to success is to find the right program that will fit the teens’ individual needs and goals. But when all is said and done, only the child can decide if they truly want to change or not. His parents, his school or his friends cannot make the decision for him. The teen is the only one who can decide if he truly wants to change or not.
